About David Weinberger

David Weinberger is a conservative from Washington, D.C. He holds a B.A. in Business and Spanish from The University of St. Thomas and is the Communications Coordinator at The Heritage Foundation. His views, however, are his own, and do not necessarily reflect those of The Heritage Foundation.

Mr. Weinberger embraces classical liberalism, which he says means holding strong, conservative convictions. He feels that conservatism today is often misrepresented and therefore misunderstood, especially among young people. This he attributes mainly to culture and academia: “Our culture tends to emphasize feelings, and our academies give the intellectual reinforcement to feelings-based thinking. Unfortunately, it is this thinking that clouds judgment and leads to moral confusion. And this is largely what makes up leftism today.”

Mr. Weinberger posits that leftism is so ingrained into the fabric of our culture that it is entirely possible to graduate from college without ever having been presented conservative values, while it is virtually impossible to do the same without being presented left-wing values. He maintains that none of this is meant to indict any liberals in particular, many of whom are his friends, including his good friend Tim Mitchell whom he debates on this blog. He readily acknowledges there are many wonderful and well-intentioned liberals, and some mean-spirited conservatives.

In his posts here, Mr. Weinberger will articulate those principles and values that have led him to become an unapologetic conservative. In the course of doing so, he hopes to persuade or at least open the minds of some of his readers.
